Karen Flynn

Head Trainer

I remember being in love with all things equestrian, since I was 3yrs old. I purchased my first horse at 17, with my first paycheck, in my first year of college and many subsequent horses would follow. I graduated with a B.S. degree and worked in the Genetic field for 18 years. During that time I continued to ride and show on the MHJA and A circuit, in the Hunter and Equitation rings.

Fifteen (or so) years ago, I decided teaching others was what I loved to do, and was my true profession. I have had success at all levels with many riders, both juniors and adults. I believe that continuing to be open, to learn and grow, is paramount in the ever-changing horse industry. I believe in developing riders that are independent, capable, and confident. I believe that your barn can be a "family", built on trust and integrity.

Assistant Trainer

My profesional career started four years ago not long after returning from college. Now if I am not on the back of a horse or teaching someone who is, I am working and learning how to be a better rider and trainer. I have shown on  MHJA "B" and HJAM "A" circuit in both the hunter and jumper rings. I have focused primarily on introducing horses to careers as hunter/jumpers, whether starting young horses, or retraining horses from a different discipline.

I believe that to become a true horsemen, one must learn multiple aspects of the equine industry. As such, I take the time to learn from respected dressage trainers to add balance to my riding. I have spent three years apprenticing part time with our farrier to learn about the most important aspect of our equine's soundness. I also work a couple days a week at our local tack shop, Sporthorse Saddlery, adding a variety of knowledge I would not recieve anywhere else. I am always excited to use these experiences to bring horses along in succesful hunter/jumper careers, or pass my knowledge onto passionate students.
